The Beginning of a Journey
Posted by kyle in children, family, kids, mobile home park
Not that today marks the beginning of this journey, but the stress of what is to come has built to a point where I simply needed to start writing. I will be writing about our journey over the next few weeks. It is a journey of business, of family adventure, of new experiences, of significant personal growth. This is our 2009 summer vacation.
Family Photos

Some good friends of ours, Glen and Riarna, came over for dinner one day and Riarna brough her camera. We had a great time running around, laughing and having all sorts of fun, while Riarna took random shots to help us get some new family photos. I hope you enjoy these shots as much as we did. You can check them all out on my Flickr page.
Declarations for Children

My wife and I have been taking personal development courses for several years now. Most of them have been with T. Harv Eker and Marshall Sylver. Both are stupendous at what they do. During one of our course, it occured to me that I needed to create something that I could use with my kids to help them gain from our experiences on these courses. I decided on a list of declarations that we could all say together before bed. Every night before bed we were already saying prayers, so it was just natural for use to add the declarations to the routine.

Dreams Require Constant Tweaking

Many times we set a goal or dream we would like to achieve, then when something changes, we abandon the dream thinking it wasn’t meant to be. You have to realize that sometimes when you state a dream, you haven’t really thought it through 100%. Sometimes it takes the process of time and change to figure out what the achievement of that dream really looks like. Sometimes new information necessitates a new approach. It may not be exactly what you thought it would be, but it is still your dream.
Never Settle
Posted by kyle in children, dreams, kids, marriage
Be willing to take that step and never regret it no matter what happens.
Maybe you got married and had kids, then the marriage turned sour. Don’t dwell on the bad marriage, rejoice in that fact that that marriage blessed you with wonderful children. If you didn’t have children, rejoice in the fact that you now know what not to do or who not to do it with the next time. Learn from the experience. As an aside, if you are in a bad marriage and have kids, you can still go after your dream of finding true love.

Kids Are So Resilient
Posted by kyle in children, soccer
The last couple of days, Matthew has been sick. Actually, it could even be a hold-over from a couple of weeks ago. For a kid that never gets sick, this has been tough to watch. The great thing is though, that even when he is sick, he never really complains. He still enjoys his day. He sometimes walks around with his head and shoulders down (especially when he doesn’t want to do something), so that he can milk the situation. So we need to work on him.
Whatever They Want to Do, They Can

Here is a great shot of Andrew flipping pancakes. He’s a natural. Amelia took him to the school when she was volunteering and he asked if it would be alright if he helped out. No fear. I love it.
