Packing the Van
Have you ever had that sneaking suspicion when you pack for a trip that you are taking too much. Nah, me neither! When I packed the van for our road trip today I was amazed at how well it all went together. I guess all those years as a mechanical engineer packing electronics into very small spaces had a lasting effect on me.
Back of van: Less than the photo from the move. Yes!
I had a comment on my last post about whether there was any room left for passengers. That was based on the picture of our van when we moved to Winnipeg. I just knew this time would be much better since we weren’t moving.
Well, we are going to be on the road for several weeks, as opposed to only 4 days…And we have three young children…And we are camping all the way…And we do like to take food on the road. Add that up and you get what you see in the following photos.
Driver-side sliding door: Hey, at least the fridge is empty!
Mind you, it will be full once we get to Grand Forks.
Passenger-side sliding door: Top is food, middle is business stuff,
bottom is LEGO. Like I said, several weeks!
I’m sure that I left room for the three kids seats…I think. I did do a much better job planning either way. I even built a structure to contain our refrigerator (remember, I said we like food on the road), and for more efficient and secure placement of baggage.
See! I knew I didn’t forget anything! But no kitchen sink!
Okay, so maybe I didn’t do much better than the move from Ottawa, but I am proud to say that I have not packed the kitchen sink.
No wait, we have a makeshift sink in the back.
Ahh s$%t!
